The
software
game
MahKing
was
announced
years
ago.
The
Korean
based
TankSoft
software
company
claimed
the
game
was
to
be
invincible.
But
since
the
realisation
date
was
postponed
again
and
again,
sceptisism
about
the
game
grew.
But
MahKing
appears
to
live
after
all!
Now
everyone
who
visits
the
site
of
the
World
Mahjong
Players
Association
(WMPA)
can
download
the
online
version
of
the
game
and
try
it
for
free.
The
rules
for
the
online
version
are
those
that
are
developed
by
WMPA.
Quote
from
the
WMPA
website
about
the
principles
of
the
game:
A
portion
is
calculated
by
squaring
the
total
value
(Faan)
of
a
winning
hand.
For
instance,
if
the
winning
value
is
three(3),
the
portion
is
nine
(9).
However,
the
total
value(Faan)
cannot
exceed
twenty
(20),
so
the
maximum
of
a
portion
is
four
hundred
(400)
points.
If
a
player
wins
by
picking
up
a
tile
from
the
Wall,
he
gets
a
portion
from
each
other
player.
Thus
the
total
income
will
be
three
portions.
If
a
player
wins
by
a
discarded
tile
or
robbing
a
kong,
he
gets
three
portions
from
the
discarder
or
the
robbed.
The
result
of
payment
is
recorded
in
the
score
card.
This
very
simple
method
is
one
of
the
kernels
of
WMPA
rule.
Points
calculation/payment
procedure
has
been
a
big
headache
for
a
long
time.
In
Japan,
there
are
tens
of
books
written
on
calculating
points.
We
believe
every
mahjong
player
will
do
well
to
follow
this
new
method.
The
game
has
three
modes:
against
other
humans
and
against
the
program
itself.
But
don't
give
up
too
soon,
because
then
your
ranking
will
be
reduced.
